Library Cards for Teachers
A courtesy library card good for one school year is available to any teacher who:
- Teaches in the Harlem, Kinnickinnick, Prairie Hill, or Hononegah school districts.
- Teaches at a private school within the library district.
- Is a home school educator or a daycare provider within the library district.
The card is filed at the library and may be used only to borrow NSLD materials for classroom use. Materials checked out with a teacher’s library card are due in four weeks. Two additional renewals may be requested by telephone or email sent to Children’s Services. Fines may be charged for past due materials.
Classroom Resource Collection
A NSLD Teacher card allows teachers to request Classroom Resources Collections. Library staff will gather materials for teachers to supplement the classroom curriculum. Classroom Resource Collection materials can be requested by contacting Children’s Services by telephone or email sent to Children’s Services. Teachers also are welcome to request or select materials personally at the library. Two weeks’ notice is recommended.
Preschool Theme Kits
Theme kits are available for check out by daycare providers within the NSLD boundaries. Kits are for daycares that have at least 3 children ages 3-5. Kits include books and other assorted materials like puzzles, puppets, and videos that relate to a theme. Check out is for 4 weeks on a Teacher Library Card. To see if your daycare is within the NSLD boundaries, check your tax bill online at https://treasurer.wincoil.us/ to see if you pay taxes to North Suburban Library District.
Homeschooling Resources
Parents who homeschool within the NSLD boundaries are eligible for an NSLD teacher card. Additional resources are available. Contact Children’s Services for more information.
AR Bookfinder
AR Bookfinder is a tool for finding materials that meet your school’s Accelerated Reader requirements. AR Bookfinder is available for Kinnickinnick, Harlem, and Prairie Hill school districts.
